Patch 4.1, The Legend Returns, was the first major version update for Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood and brings a multitude of additions and refinements to the realm. Features include a new dungeonThe Drowned City of Skalla, a new alliance raid, The Royal City of Rabanastre, a new trial, The Minstrel's Ballad; Shinryu's Domain, and more.

Patch 4.1 contains content that can only be accessed by registering the expansion packs for Final Fantasy XIV to your service account. To distinguish between adjustments that are and are not affected by the registration of these expansions, the following notations will be used throughout the patch notes:

Stormblood
  • [2.x] These additions and adjustments only require the purchase of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.
  • [3.x] These additions and adjustments require the purchase and registration of Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward.

  • [4.x] Players can move between Onokoro and Sakazuki by speaking with the NPCs at the locations below after completing the main scenario quest 'Tide Goes in, Imperials Go Out.'
  • [4.x] New side story quests have been added.
